we are

Tamborine & Fan, Inc. founded by Jerome “Big Duck” Smith is a nonprofit organization that has proudly served the 6th and 7th Wards of New Orleans since 1968. For more than five decades, we have remained committed to uplifting and empowering youth by providing drug prevention program, mentorship, and a safe, supportive environment where children can thrive academically, athletically, culturally, and personally.

Our mission is centered on building strong educational foundations through focused enrichment in Reading, Math and Science, while also fostering leadership, teamwork, discipline, and community involvement. Beyond academics, Tamborine & Fan offers a wide range of extracurricular activities, including football, basketball, baseball, cheerleading, track and field, cultural arts, and social awareness , helping young people develop confidence, character, and lifelong skills.
